London MC and rapper Tinie Tempah’s single ‘Written in the Stars’ hit number 1 after being released for 6 days. The next day, his debut album Disc-Overy was released. Disc-Overy also hit the #1 spot in the UK. He’s already had 4 chart-topping singles (videos after the jump). He won Best Newcomer and Best Video for ‘Frisky’ at the MOBO (Music Of Black Origin) Awards in Liverpool last month, where he was also nominated Best Song and Best UK Act. Jay-Z hopes Tempah will set his sights on Roc Nation, he said in an interview on BBC 1Xtra.
“If he wants to be super successful, he should come to [Roc Nation]. I’ve been hearing about him,” Jay-Z said.
Tempah supported Rihanna, a Roc Nation native, in her UK tour this year. This leads us to believe Jay-Z has been doing more than just “hearing about him,” especially knowing how hands-on he is with his artists. Looks like Tinie Tempah is in high-demand and Jay knows it. Let’s see if Jay-Z gets his hands on the next big act to hit the US.
